We didn't start out as #vanlifers. Heck, we hesitate to even call ourselves that now! But we saw a problem, and wanted to solve it.
How It All Started:
Hey, I’m Josh, and that photo up there is my Honda Civic on the shoulder of the 101 in Big Sur, California back in 2021.
VanCan started with my love for adventure, and a road trip I’ll never forget (though I tried to). My dream trip from Seattle to Los Angeles quickly turned into a nightmare of circling blocks, dodging parking restrictions, and a few too many run-ins with frustrated locals. By the time I reached Big Sur, I gave up and headed home, realizing how stressful finding safe overnight parking could be.
Fast forward to 2025 after years of similar experiences; I was sitting in my barber’s chair in Salt Lake City, a cold January night's darkness closing in. Through the window I saw a camper van from Arizona circling the block, its driver struggling to find parking. That’s when it hit me: Why isn’t there a simple, reliable solution for travelers like this?
That night, I bought the domain vancan.co, and the wheels were set in motion.

VanCan was born to make parking easy and safe for vanlifers and RV adventurers. Whether you’re near a national park or a busy city, VanCan connects you to convenient overnight spots so you can explore stress-free and enjoy the journey, but its also so much more.
